I downloaded and tried out Google's Chrome browser this evening. It is ridiculously cool. I must admit I was very skeptical when I learned about this browser. I have become very attached to Firefox over the last 5 or so years of use, and I simply didn't see how it could be topped.
After I thought about it for awhile, it did occur to me that Firefox 3 has a few more bugs and rendering issues than I would care for. Also, it tends to hang on my clean Ubuntu build quite frequently, which means I have to look up the process and issue a kill command. Kind of pesky.
The WebKit based Chrome is lightning fast, dead simple, and has a couple of cool features that Firefox doesn't have (incognito anyone?). I eagerly await the build for Linux. Until then, I guess I'll make Windows my home again for awhile.
As a developer, the Gears integration looks pretty cool, but I will still need to use Firefox at work since Firebug has become a guilty crutch of mine.Holy cats, it has a DOM inspector. Page->Developer->Javascript Console
